Soundcheck With The Roots
Back in 2009 when I was DJ'ing The Roots' weekly jam sessions at New York City's Highline Ballroom, one of my favorite things to do was show up hella early. If I was lucky, I'd get to witness some jam sessions during sound check. A few times, I dusted off my old middle school percussion skills and grabbed a tambourine*.

*As the weekly jam sessions went on, I became the band's de facto tambourine player whenever they did their funked up version of "How I Got Over."
